Biographies
P. Douglas Sherrod

P. Douglas Sherrod, Group Director Investment Banking, comes from an investment banking and structured finance background where he originated and executed financing transactions and financial advisory mandates for clients in the natural resources sectors over the past 20 + years.

Prior to CPM Mr. Sherrod served as the interim chief financial officer of Emex Corporation, a public company based in Denver with advanced-stage gold and platinum exploration projects in Alaska as well as a proprietary, small-scale gas-to-liquids technology. From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Sherrod was a Team Leader in the Natural Resources and Energy Sector at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in New York. Prior to that position, he worked at Deutsche Bank AG, Sharps Pixley Inc., and Citibank, N.A., serving corporate clients in the natural resources sector. Mr. Sherrod has a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.


Alec Kushnir

Alec Kushnir, Director Investment Banking, is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, structuring, and securing financing for CPM Group’s investment banking clients. Prior to joining CPM Group, Mr. Kushnir worked for the investment banks Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and ANZ, and commercial finance company CIT, where he was responsible for origination and relationship management with U.S. and international power, electric utility and mining clients. Mr. Kushnir has more than 10 years transaction experience across the spectrum of energy and natural resources debt and equity capital markets financings, project finance and mergers and acquisitions. His prior work experience includes both project and corporate finance work for power developers Gas Energy and Sithe Energies. Mr. Kushnir earned an M.B.A. in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business and a B.A. in International Relations from the American University.


Jeffrey M. Christian

Jeffrey M. Christian, Managing Director and founder of the firm, is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the markets for precious metals. He also is well known for his work on copper, foreign exchange markets, and other commodities. Mr. Christian also is considered one of the world’s premier authorities on commodities derivatives, both for hedging and investment purposes. He has worked with governments and organizations such as the United Nations, World Bank, International Finance Corporation, and International Monetary Fund, as well as with many of the world’s largest and most prominent mining companies, industrial companies, investment banks, and institutional and individual investors.

He has written and spoken extensively about precious metals and commodities markets, as well as world financial and economic conditions. He has been involved in much of the pioneering work applying economic analysis and econometrics to commodities markets, as well as efforts to improve the quality of commodities market research. Mr. Christian created CPM Group in June 1986, when he and his associates within the Commodities Research Group in the Goldman, Sachs Investment Research Department left that company as a unit to set up an independent research company.
